Mike Hoffman, President and CEO of the Bank of Sullivan announced the election of Jon Downard to serve as Bank of Sullivan Chairman of the Board. In making the announcement, Hoffman stated, “Jon has been on our board since 2015, with his experience and knowledge he is a great fit to guide the officers and employees of Bank of Sullivan. He has an excellent and varied business background, and he is committed to our local communities and the growth of the bank.”
Downard, a lifelong resident of the Union area, has many years of business experience in insurance and the practice of law. Downard graduated locally from Union High School and East Central College, then went on to receive his Bachelors of Science degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri. He then obtained his law degree from Oklahoma City University in 1984. Downard is the senior partner in the law firm of Hansen, Stierberger, Downard, Schroeder & Head, LLC, Union, Missouri which he joined in 1985. He is a member of the Missouri Bar and admitted and qualified as an Attorney and Counselor to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He is the former Prosecuting Attorney for both the City of Sullivan and the City of Pacific. He currently serves as CEO for Physicians Standard Insurance Company, St. Louis, Missouri; Secretary of Physicians Re Inc. of Salt Lake City, Utah; Executive Vice President and Corporate Counsel for MPM-PPIA in St. Louis; President of Corporate Insurance Services, LLC, in Union, Missouri; one of the principle owners of Hansen Franklin County Title and Abstract, Inc. and Missouri Professional Title, both of Union, Missouri. Downard is a Past President of the Twentieth Judicial Bar Association, having served as President twice. He is also a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church in Beaufort, MO.
Downard and his wife, Diana, reside in Union. He enjoys spending time with his family, loves Cardinals baseball, traveling, trout fishing, and bird hunting.
